GGPoker is an online poker room founded in April 2017 and based on the Isle of Man. The online poker room initially focussed heavily on the Asian market and was successful in building a significant player base. Starting 2019 GGPoker experienced a major upswing when Daniel Negreanu was signed up as a brand ambassador. In 2020, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Fedor Holz and Jason Koon followed as well-known GGPoker Pros. Meanwhile the number of players on the site increased significantly.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 saw the first staging of the World Series of Poker Online, with 54 bracelets being played on GGPoker. During this tournament series, the poker room set a new world record for the largest online poker tournament at the Main Event with a prize pool of over $27.5 million, which it still holds to this day.
GGPoker is part of one of the largest poker networks that used to target primarily the Asian poker market. The site is also open to European and Canadian players. GGPoker offers many neat innovations, is aimed at recreational players and has taken measures to keep toxic players away from the tables. Right now, GGPoker is considered to be the site with the weakest competition at the tables.
This is one of the online poker networks that are noteworthy. Not only because of the amount of promotions and weak competition. But also their recent affiliation with WSOP, hosting the poker world’s biggest online series in 2020 - and ever. In return, the rake at GGPoker is a little higher compared to most competitors. Also tracking software such as PokerTracker and Hold'em Manager is unusable at GGPoker.
