2022 partypoker MILLIONS Europe Main Event Day 1

Ramon Colillas was the star of the show on Friday after bagging a chip-leading stack of 18,245,000 on Day 1c in the partypoker MILLIONS Europe €3,300 Main Event at Casino Barcelona.

Colillas got a big stack after the dinner break when his ace-queen got there against ace-king. He then put pressure on his opponents hand after hand near the end of the day to extend his stack for Day 2. The Spanish poker pro has had massive success in online tournaments during the pandemic and has had some huge cashes in live play with more than $6 million in tournament earnings tracked at The Hendon Mob.

Four other players bagged more than 10 million in chips including Gabriele Re (12,230,000), Alex Lynskey (11,685,000), Mitchell Hynam (11,280,000), and Emmanuel Rouvet (10,650,000). Jelle Moene (8,675,000), former British footballer Anthony Gardner (7,000,000), Arthur Conan (6,945,000), and local hero Sergio Alonso (2,630,000) are among the other big names advancing to Day 2 from the Day 1c field.

The day ended after Re ousted Patryk Slusarek on the money bubble when his jacks held against nine-seven. The remaining 22 players were in the money for at least a €5,000 min-cash with much more to come if they go deep.

Other notables to hit the rail on Day 1c included partypoker ambassadors John Duthie and retired boxer Carl Froch. Will Kassouf, 2022 Irish Poker Open Main Event runner-up Kyle Maguire, and partypoker MILLIONS Europe €10,300 High Roller champion Teun Mulder were also unable to find a bag on Day 1c.

The action will continue on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Day 2. Blinds will be rolled back to 60,000/120,000 with a big blind ante of 120,000 thanks to one of the Online Day 1’s finishing the earliest. Day 1c is in the books after Majid Nadeem ousted Patryk Slusarek on the bubble as follows. Sluasarek jammed his small stack of 300,000 and was called by Gabriele Re and Nadeem.

Re and Nadeem checked down the 6 Q 9 5 A board.

“I have a nine,” said Slusarek right before he turned over 9 7 . This was ahead of Re’s J 2 but was no good against the J J held by Nadeem. While Slusarek will go home empty-handed, the remaining 22 players are bagging chips into Day 2 and have already secured at least a min-cash of €5,000.

Michael Sklenicka bet 1.5 million into a pot of a bit more after the Q 6 6 came on the flop. Jorn Driessen called to see the 2 turn. Sklenicka checked before Alonso jammed for 1,375,000. Sklenicka paused for about 30 seconds before he called.

Driessen was far behind and didn’t get there on the 4 river to leave just 23 players remaining in the field. The blinds just increased to 100,000/200,000 with a big blind ante of 200,000 after the hand. A table broke and the action is hand-for-hand on the Day 1c money bubble with the surviving players banking at least a min-cash of €5,000.

Ramon Colillas is easily the chip leader near the end of Day 1c. He just extended his lead to nearly 18 million in chips as follows.

Colillas bet 1.6 million with about 2.5 million in the pot with the A 3 5 5 on the board after the turn. Pawel Brzeski called to see the 9 river. Colillas open-jammed and Brzeski went into the tank. Eventually, Brzeski folded and had 5.5 million after the hand.

Even Eidebakk jammed from the small blind for 2,125,000 and was called by Istavan Birizdo, who had a little more in his stack, from the big blind.

The 7 2 3 10 K runout improved Eidebakk to two pair to win the hand, while Birizdo was left on crumbs after the bad beat.

Players are on a 15-minute break. The blinds will increase to 80,000/160,000 with a big blind ante of 160,000 when the action resumes.

This is already higher than the blinds ended during one of the opening flights, which means it is likely Day 2 will begin at Level 15 with blinds at 60,000/120,000 with a big blind ante of 120,000.

Meanwhile, it appears that Ramon Collilas has the chip lead with 12.6 million in chips at the break after winning a big pot with ace-queen against another Spanish player’s big slick with Alex Lynskey not too far behind.

The turbo flight attracted 63 entries with nine players advancing to Day 2. This brings the total entry count up to 450 entries with approximately 68 players advancing to Day 2. The number of players advancing might change as it is possible that multiple players are ousted on the money bubble at the end of Day 1c or Day 1d.

In a battle of the blinds, Jelle Moene three-bet from the big blind to 1,215,000 and was called by Aliaksey Kazakevich from the small blind.

Kazakevich donk-bet the 6 9 J flop for 780,000. Moene went into the tank for a minute before he jammed for less than 4 million. Kazakevich then paused for about a minute before he opted to fold. This was enough to push Moene over 6 million chips.

Meanwhile, the action is down to 30 players. So it is likely that the upcoming break will be the final break of Day 1c with 22 players advancing in the money for at least min-cash of €5,000.

Anthony Gardner opened from early position for 225,000 and was called by the player in the small blind and Pawel Brzeski in the big blind.

The players in the blinds check-called a bet of 275,000 by Gardner after the 2 9 7 landed on the flop. The players in the blinds checked again on the 5 turn. Gardner bet 500,000. The player in the small blind folded before Brzeski jammed for more than the 4 million Gardner had behind. Gardner went into the tank for a couple of minutes before giving up on the hand.

Meanwhile, Alex Lynskey is still the chip leader at the moment with 10.7 million in chips. On the flip end, it was a little more quiet in the room with Will Kassouf’s chair empty.

Kyle Maguire was on the rail. PokerListings asked the 2022 Irish Poker Open runner-up how it all went down.

“I suck at poker,” Kyle said.

“We know that isn’t true,” said PokerListings. “How did it really go down.”

We had a laugh and Maguire shared with us what happened.

Maguire shared that he first lost about half of his stack when his ace-ten didn’t get there against ace-queen. Shortly after, he got it in with king-queen and was looked up by ace-queen to hit the rail.

While today wasn’t Maguire’s day after getting it in twice with about 25% equity in both spots, it would be hard for most people to believe there aren’t more big things ahead for the Scottish poker pro.

While we aren’t reporting the turbo Day 1d flight, we did get a little tidbit about partypoker Team Online’s Matt Staples in that final opening flight from Scott “Pokerbrahs” Kenyon.

Staples shared with Kenyon that he got his stack in with queens against a loose player with ten-eight suited. The queens held and Staples was up to 2.7 million in chips.

Ridvan Kilincaslan had a big stack before the dinner break and was joking around that he should go to sleep. Emmanuel Rouvet told him to stick around and perhaps now we know why as he first doubled through Kilincaslan when his jacks got there against kings. He took the rest shortly after, but this time he was ahead.

Kilincaslan got his 25 big blind stack in with A Q and was up against Rouvet’s Q Q . The 9 10 6 7 10 ran out on the board and Kilincaslan hit the rail.

Meanwhile, Anthony Gardner has been quietly building a stack and is up to 4.7 million on the table next to Rouvet’s table.

Pawel Brzeski was down to about 15 big blinds when he got them in with A 3 and was looked up by Sebastian Tusal with 5 5 .

Brzeski was behind but that didn’t last for long after his ace paired on the 7 4 A flop. He had a sweat though with the 6 turn giving Tusal an open-ended straight draw. Neither trips nor the straight came for Tusal on the 7 river and Brzeski doubled through Tusal.

Meanwhile, the field is down to just 44 players with half the remaining field advancing to Day 2 with 22 survivors guaranteed at least a min-cash of €5,000 for their efforts.

Duco ten Haven bet 850,000 into a pot of a bit more on the river with the J 8 10 7 K on the board. Christophe Pommier raised to 2,000,000 and ten Haven went into the tank for several minutes before a player called the clock. With the clock winding down, ten Haven made the call. Pommier turned over A Q for a rivered Broadway to scoop a huge pot against ten Haven, who mucked his hand.

Former British boxer and partypoker ambassador Carl Froch is one of the nicest guys on the partypoker live tour scene. He always takes time to chat with the players and last night was having a blast with karaoke.

Froch was sitting on about 2.5 million at the dinner break. He shared with PokerListings that he was bleeding chips and was down to 1.5 million.

The final hand for Froch was a bit of a cooler. He woke up with big slick on the button and four-bet jammed his stack against the player in the big blind who woke up with aces. No miracle came Froch’s way and his run in the Main Event was over.

Although Froch was unable to find success in the Main Event, he did share he was able to find success recently running deep in $109 and $215 events at partypoker. Hopefully, Froch can make the money and run much deeper than that during the next partypoker Live event he attends.

“I should have gone to bed,” said Ridvan Kilincaslan to Emmanuel Rouvet after the previous exchange. “You knew what was going to happen.”

This was after a big hand where Kilincaslan got it in with cowboys, Rouvet with jacks, and Michael Sklenicka was also in the mix with a short stack with threes.

Kilincaslan was ahead but was due to lose a massive pot unless something changed after Rouvet flopped a set with a jack hitting the flop. Sklenicka was alive but barely. But he somehow got there getting runner-runner three’s on the turn and river to improve to quads to triple up. Kilincaslan still has a big stack but it is a tough nut to swallow considering if his hand held he would be sitting on around 11 million in chips. Instead, it is Rouvet with a huge stack of 8 million in front of him.

Tanas Khilko squeezed from the small blind for 675,000. Daniel Koloszar called and the other player in the hand folded.

“Do you want to run it twice?” Will Kassouf, who was also at the table, asked joking around with both of the players in the hand.

It didn’t appear that either player wanted to do so even if they were allowed to, which they are not.

Khilko won the flip after Koloszar was unable to connect with the 4 7 Q 6 8 board and Khilko doubled his stack instead of hitting the rail.

Ridvan Kilincaslan has been having a good time. This might be because he was sitting on near 7 million in chips when some banter at his table began.

“I think I am going to bed,” said Kilincaslan as a joke when he was told 22 players would advance today.

“Please don’t go,” said Emmanuel Rouvet who was also at the table.

“What, you think I am a fish?” asked Kilincaslan.

The fun banter kept going until Jelle Moene made a small dent in his stack as follows.

Kilincaslan opened from the cutoff for 100,000. Moene jammed for 455,000 from the button.

“Everyone else fold?” asked Kilincaslan before he slid some chips forward to make the call.

The 4 9 2 came on the flop. The hand was determined right then and there with Moene improving to a flush and Kilincaslan drawing dead. The 10 turn and 10 river completed the board to award Moene a full double-up.

Meanwhile, both Teun Mulder and Roope Tarmi were sitting next to each other. But not on Day 1c. They will give it another go on Day 1d for their last chance to advance to Day 2. Fortunes have been different for Kyle Maguire who has increased his stack to 3.6 million since the dinner break. The 2022 Irish Poker Open Main Event runner-up shared with PokerListings that he won a big pot without a showdown.

Aki Pyysing was short on chips coming off the break but found a spot to potentially quadruple up if things went his way. A player opened from early position for 100,000. Johan Storakers three-bet to 385,000 and Pyysing called off for 125,000. The original player that opened, folded his hand and the dealer asked the players to turn over their cards.

Pyysing gained some outs with an open-ended straight draw after the Q 9 J came on the flop. Neither the 4 turn, nor the 7 river were helpful and Pyysing hit the rail.

Pyysing shared with PokerListings as he was leaving the tournament area that he doesn’t plan to join the turbo flight as he normally doesn’t play them. The Finnish poker legend and journalist is a man of his word, so it is almost certain that his partypoker MILLIONS Europe Main Event run is over. Meanwhile, Storakers has one of the bigger stacks in the room with 4.8 million in chips after the hand.

The dinner break just ended and late registration is closed. Day 1c attracted a total of 145 entries with 65 players coming back from the dinner break.

The final field size and prize pool of the Main Event has yet to be determined as the turbo Day 1d recently kicked off but the first three live opening flights attracted 337 entries with 51 players advancing.

Teun Mulder recently joined the field looking to add a second trophy at this festival. Last night, he won the two-day partypoker MILLIONS Europe €10,300 High Roller for €67,900.

Mulder defeated Stephen O’Dwyer heads-up en route to victory. O’Dwyer, already qualified to Day 2 after battling it out on Wednesday’s Day 1a.

Sean Ragozzini bet 200,000 into a pot of 600,000 on the turn with the 7 J 7 Q on the board. Serge Noel raised to 1,000,000 and Ragozzini went into the tank.

Ragozzini was mumbling to himself when Noel asked if he was talking to him.

“No, I am trying to figure out what you have,” responded Ragozzini.

Ragozzini eventually folded for Noel to win the pot without a showdown.

John Duthie was relaxing with a massage during the early part of Day 1c. Things were going well but he is now on the rail and shared a little bit about how it went down.

Duthie shared that he lost a 3 million chip pot after flopping the nuts with a straight. A player with an ace-high flush draw jammed and got there after Duthie called. Duthie still had a starting stack after this hand but shared he lost it on another cooler.

At least for now, Duthie plans to stay on the sidelines. He shared he will do some mingling and then consider whether to get back into Day 1c or tonight’s turbo Day 1d.

Gregor Reichhardt three-bet jammed from the small blind over a button open for 155,000. Sirzat Hissou came in over the top for about 1.2 million and the player on the button folded.

Luck was on Reichhardt’s way as his ten paired up on the 7 8 10 K 6 board to stay alive and double his stack.

The pot didn’t get big until the turn with the 10 3 3 3 on the board. Sirzat Hissou bet 100,000 and was called by Sidar Alis. Tomas Kazakevich jammed for about 500,000 and was called by both Hissou and Alis.

Hissou and Alis both checked the Q river and players turned over their cards. Kazakevich held K 10 for a full house threes-over-tens, while Alis held the same full house with 10 9 . Hissou, however, turned over J J for a better full house to win the hand.

Even Eidebakk opened before another player three-bet to 65,000. Duco ten Haven four-bet to 135,000 before Eidebakk jammed for about 750,000. One player folded before ten Haven called off his stack of less than 600,000.

Eidebakk was miles ahead and things got worse for ten Haven after Eidebakk improved to a set of cowboys on the J K 8 flop. Ten Haven was drawing dead on the 4 turn and said “good game” to the table after the 5 river completed the board.

Meanwhile, the Day 1c field has reached the century mark with 100 entries. This makes Day 1c the biggest opening flight online and live with the second biggest coming on Day 1a, which attracted 97 entries.

Sirzat Hissou bet 100,000 into a pot of slightly more on the 3 3 5 flop. One player called before Sandro Pizanti jammed for 520,000. Hissou called about 30 seconds later and the other player folded.

Both players had trips but Pizanti had the better kicker. Pizanti had his opponent drawing dead after the 8 turn improved his hand to a full house. The double-up was official after the J river completed the board.

Victor Caballero bet 135,000 into a pot of slightly more with the K 3 K 9 5 on the board. Sidar Alis tanked for a minute before he made the call.

Caballero turned over K 6 for trip kings, while Alis held K Q for the same trips. Alis’s kicker was better to scoop up the pot.

partypoker Ambassador and former British boxer Carl Froch has joined the action just as Level 3 was kicking off.

Froch shared with PokerListings as he was taking his seat that he has some nerves. Adrenaline is often good for boxing but can have the opposite effect for some at the poker table.

Last night was karaoke night for partypoker players. Froch impressed the crowds with his rendition of a few Johnny Cash songs and others with partypoker commentator Henry Kilbane and later with popular poker streamer Scott “Pokerbrahs” Kenyon.

Pablo Noval entered Day 1c with a short stack of 306,000 that he accumulated during an online phased qualifier at partypoker. He was able to chip up a bit during Level 2 against another short-stacked player in Ridvan Kilincaslan.

Noval had his remaining stack of 225,000 in the middle with Q 10 against Kilincaslan’s A 4 . Kilincaslan didn’t seem that confident that his hand would hold and got out of his chair on the K 2 6 flop. He let out a small chuckle after his opponent paired up on the Q turn, which also gave Kilincaslan a flush draw. The 5 river didn’t help Kilincaslan and he got out of his seat until Noval told him that he had him covered.

Alis Sidar bet 32,000 into a pot of more than double that after the Q 4 K came on the flop. Gregor Reichhardt called before Albert Gertian raised to 127,000. Both Sidar and Reichardt called to see the Q turn.

Sidar checked and Reichhardt fired out big for 310,000. Both Gertian and Sidar folded and the dealer awarded Reichhardt the pot.

Welcome to the partypoker MILLIONS Europe €3,300 Main Event at Casino Barcelona. Two opening live opening flights and one online opening flight have already transpired.

PokerListings will hop into the action starting on today’s Day 1c once cards are in the air at 1 p.m. CEST.

Players start with a robust stack of 1,000,000 in chips and can re-enter one time during each opening flight with late-registration closing on Day 1c at 7:45 p.m. Players that qualified online and live phased satellites will have varying stacks.

Day 1a attracted 97 players with 15 survivors and Day 1b attracted 95 players with 14 survivors. There were also players that qualified into the Main Event via Online Day 1’s held at partypoker.

Blinds will start at 2,000/5,000 with a big blind ante of 5,000, equating to 200 big blinds, and will increase every 40-minutes. Players will bag chips and be in the money once the Day 1c field is trimmed down to just 15% of the field.

Day 1a of the partypoker MILLIONS Europe Main Event attracted 97 entries. Each opening flight plays down to just 15 percent of the field, who will be in the money to start Day 2.
