$10 400 WPT World Championship – 45 Players Remaining

Few, in any, live poker tournaments has been as hyped as the WPT World Championship this year. The $10 400 tournament is currently taking place at the Wynn Las Vegas, and players are competing for a share of the $40 000 000 prize pool. Let’s take a look at what’s been happening in the WPT World Championship 2023 so far!

Overlay Alert

The WPT World Championship promised a $40 000 000 GTD. There were four day 1 flights in the schedule, and a total of 3 835 entries were made in the tournament. Even though there’s some overlay in the tournament, the organizers should be pleased: they’ve created one of the biggest live poker events through all time, and there’s roughly 30% more players competing than last year.

When this article is being written, the day 4 action has just concluded and there are 45 players remaining in the tournament. They are all competing for the first place payout of $5 678 000. There have been many big names in this years WPT World Championship; David Peters, Huck Seed, Shaun Deeb and Joe Cada, to name a few.

When players bagged their chips after day 4, Mark Mounsey could be determined the chip leader. Prior to play on day 5 he has 18 725 000, however, he’s closely trailed by a handful other players. Day 5 will bring a lot of exciting action for sure!

Action was folded to Bianco who quickly 4-bet All In, and after a minute’s consideration, Hachem managed to fold his kings. Hachem managed to get in the money but busted as 223rd earning $25 500.

Parallel with the WPT World Championship, the $1 000 000 WPT Big One for One Drop is also being played at the Wynn. There are few tournaments with a bigger Buy-In than the One for One Drop, and 17 players decided to throw their name into the competition. This means that four players will be in the money and at this current stage, there are 14 people remaining. Busting out on day 1 was poker legend Phil Ivey.
